Here We Go Again!!

Yep, it’s road trip time, almost.  Hath is leaving on her train tonight and the rest of us are descending upon New Jersey tomorrow.  Catte, Queenie, TaraLeigh and Hath are heading to Willow’s for the Soul game this weekend.

Sure hope New Jersey can handle all of us being there at the same time.

Stay tuned.  Hijinks and havoc are sure to run amok in Jersey/Philly this weekend.

Watch out for drunk dialers and texters too.  You never know what could happen when these girls get together.

Are you ready for some football?!

I'm Leaving on a Jet Plane...

Don’t know when I’ll be back again…

Well, that’s not entirely true. I’ll be home Sunday night around 10:30 PM EST if all goes well. (Please God let there be no problems I have to work on Monday). Right now though, it’s 6:00 A.M. and I’m on a plane headed to Boston to meet up with Hath and Willow for my first arc in The Circle! My second one comes in May, but that's a story for another day. :)

I’m joining my friends for the second show at the Mohegan Sun Casino tonight. I can hardly wait. I’m not sure I even slept last night. But really, can you blame me? I’ve been waiting for forever it seems for this weekend. Well, only since December when we bought the tickets, but you get the idea. I’ve followed the tweets, been checking the BJCT blog, and now, FINALLY, it’s my turn!!

I’ve got everything. Yes, Catte and Kiwi, I made a list so I wouldn’t forget anything. My camera is packed, comfy shoes, Willow has my ticket (at least she better have it printed out and waiting for me) and I raided the Jovi account for funds for swag. What more could I need? I managed to fit everything in one small carry on size suitcase too. My hub was suitably impressed. He was sure I wasn’t going to be able to get everything to fit. Pfft, what does he know?

Not sure what Hath has planned for us to do between the time I land and when we have to leave for the concert. There was chatter of hanging in her game room, which sounds like a fun place to play (air hockey, pool, etc.) maybe getting some BBQ, but I really don’t care. I’m just glad I get to spend some quality time with girls I haven’t seen since last August and we get to go to a show together. Sounds like the perfect girls night out to me.

Four hours til I land in Beantown… Hath and Willow, here I come…

Done in the Big Apple...

Queenie made it home in one piece Sunday afternoon only slightly nauseous. There was turbulence, a lot of turbulence on my flight home, but I stayed buckled in and survived. At least there wasn't any other mishaps. Unlike my flight to NYC. The girls know what happened. I'm still mad about it, and I will only say that the next time I fly alone, I will be taking my purse with me if I go to the bathroom.

I had a great time with the girls. Sorry it took me so long to sit here and give you my thoughts. I needed some time to process everything. So many memories were made, how could I ever recount them all?

I tried sushi on Thursday at lunch. The California Roll was really quite good. Had a bit more Saturday night at dinner, the raw stuff this time. No making faces, it was really good too. The girls made me learn how to use the chopsticks too. So many new experiences for me. It was a good trip.

We finally met up with Willow outside the theater for Toxic Avenger Thursday night. She pulled up in her cab just as Hath, FM and I walked up to the theater. I've never laughed so much at a show in my life. It was just fantastic.

Lunch in the park and the Zoo on Friday were a lot of fun. Nowhere else that I know of can you be in a zoo in the midst of a metropolis like NYC and forget you are in a bustling city.

Shopping on Saturday was an experience. Willow and I made our way on the subway (the platform, HOT and LOUD) to Canal Street. We got accosted on every corner with someone trying to sell us a hand bag (Coach, Gucci, Prada...) We did find some very cute items as we wandered. That was our word of the day Saturday. Cute. Everything was cute!

Can I just tell you, Willow and I have a terrible sense of direction. We asked several times how to get to the Pearl River Mart and we still managed to go the wrong way! We finally did find it and managed to spend a fair amount of time in that fascinating store.

We traveled a bit further on Broadway and, lo and behold, we ended up in SoHo! Cobbled streets, fancy shops, and yes, the building of one yummy Rock Star.

Rutpop took the train in Saturday and met up with us. We ate at Fanelli's Cafe before heading out to scope out HRH's digs. We got as far as the door. It's a glass door with the address imprinted in white. There is a fancy sculpture in the lobby. And, sadly, he wasn't home...

We went back that night for dinner at Lure so that the ever lovely Fiction Mistress could check out the digs. We had a fabulous time. After parting ways with BigAppleJovi and FM, Willow Rutpop and I headed to Times Square. Come on, you can't go to NYC and NOT hit Times Square. That place is always hopping!

We got our picture taken (it looks like a Wanted poster!) Sang with some street musicians outside of Planet Hollywood (how could you not join in when they were singing Don't Stop Believin') and just wandered and took pictures. I picked up a couple things for my little man. We stopped in the Hard Rock, had our picture taken with Jon and I got the T-Shirt. All in all, a very successful stop in Times Square.

So, now I'm home. Went back to work this morning, caught up with everything I missed there and had time to catch up with my e-mails too.

Girls, I miss you all.

When's the next meeting and where are we going?

I Can Write a Couple Lines...

Wow. I can't believe it's over. We made a bunch of memories, wrote many lines and I am already looking forward to the next time we get to do this.

I'm here at my desk top, sigh, no more laptop for Queenie. I think I may need to find a way to convince Mr. Queenie that I just have to have one. I'm addicted and need my fix. Thanks Cheryl! :)

Hath, Tara, Sam, Cheryl, I had the very BEST time. Getting to meet you all in person was just amazing. The worst part was leaving you all this morning. It was like leaving my sisters behind. After the MP3 player bit the dust on the car ride back to reality, I revisited our weekend. I have never had so much fun doing so little. Hell, I can't remember ever spending the whole day in my jammies and I didn't even have to be sick to do it.

The beach house, what can I say, it was fantastic. Cheryl, I hope it doesn't sell for a very, very loooooong time. I wanna come and visit again just to hear the waves crashing against the shore and to sit on that sectional and look out the window to see the sun shining over the ocean.

Girls, I will carry the memories of this weekend with me forever and I truly hope we get the opportunity to make more together. You totally get the obsession like no one else ever could. Who else would watch 11 hours of bootlegs and drool over scads of pictures with me? No one but fellow Jovi fans. Those are a rare commodity around here.

Thank you all for the best week[end] ever.

Love you all!!!

White Sand, Sun Shining

It's morning of day two, the sun is shining through the window on my right, the surf is crashing against the shore and I'm the only one up right now. I have no idea what the plan is for today but I am sure we will all be Twittering our activities along the way. You saw the picture of Tara from yesterday when we were walking on the beach, you know what I'm talking about.

The house is amazing, the ladies, what can I say, they are absolutely wonderful. I am so glad I made the trip. I have never had the opportunity to speak so freely about my obsession. My girlfriends at home just wouldn't get it, but these girls do. It's nice to know that there are so many others who are just as obsessed as I am. I'm not alone in this. Whooo hooo, I was beginning to wonder... :)

I'm sorry I don't have a picture to share. The view is amazing, but this computer doesn't have a slot for my memory card. I would hazard to guess that the other girls will post some if you ask nicely.

I think another walk on the beach might be in order for today, more oot bay eg-lays and a whole lot of laughter and fun.

We're glad you're all following along and enjoyng our exploits... it's fun to share them with you.

Look for us on Twitter later!!

Okay, I managed to get a picture off my camera for all of you. Here you go...

Music: Nine Questions - Queenie

Okay, here are my answers, any of you laugh, your bra will get frozen next week!!! LOL

What was the first concert you ever saw?

I remember this well, it was 1985, I had just turned 16 and my very best friend and her dad took me to see Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse. We were up in the rafters sitting in front of a bunch of kids smoking pot and I had on my fluorescent green sweatshirt as did my friend. We were the shit. Still one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.

What CDs are in your changer right now?

Honestly, I couldn’t even tell you. My car doesn’t even have a CD player in it, just a cassette which is home to my adapter so I can listen to my MP3 player while I’m driving. In the house, the 3-disc changer in the stereo probably has Christmas CDs in it still.

How many total albums do you own (CDs, vinyl, cassettes, 8-tracks)?

Physically? I think my collection is probably between 300-400 for CDs. I have a couple of plastic bags full of cassettes down in the basement and my vinyl got sold by my parents when they had an estate sale for my grandma. Dammit! I had the 5 LP Box Set that Bruce put out a loooooong time ago too and just because I don’t have a turntable was no reason for my parents to sell that. TYVM

Do you download music, and if so, legally or illegally?

I refuse to answer on the grounds that I might incriminate myself.

What was the first album you owned?

Good Lord, the first one I ever owned? I think that had to be Whitney Houston… go ahead, roll your eyes, I did too.

What song would you like to have played at your funeral?

On Eagles Wings, but I want it to be sung. We sang it at the funeral of a very dear friend and it was absolutely beautiful.

Musically speaking, what do you love that your friends don't know about? What's your favorite guilty pleasure?

I guess probably KISS would be a big one, Ozzy, Rob Zombie, I pretty much listen to anything. Almost forgot, on the other end of that spectrum, Jim Brickman. Love that piano playing man. He is amazing.

Guilty pleasure - Barry Manilow. Cheesy, but how can you not love him? And, I can’t even believe I’m going to tell you all this, Michael Bolton. I will even admit to seeing him in concert, twice.

What band or artist changed your life, and how?

I don’t know that any one band actually changed my life. The 80’s introduced me to music that forever changed my radio listening habits, but I don’t know that I could point to just one and say “you, you did it for me.” Bon Jovi is the only one from that era that I still listen to religiously now, but that’s because they’ve kept themselves relevant and didn’t lose themselves to the grunge nonsense of the 90s and they came back even stronger in 2000. They are tried and true and will never go out of style.

Figurative gun to your head, what is your favorite album of all time?

Duran Duran - Seven and the Ragged Tiger... How can you not LOVE the Reflex?

Driving in my Car...

As I got in my car this morning to travel to work, a drive I could do with my eyes closed at this point, this thought crossed my mind:

Next week at this time, I will be on my way to New Jersey, not work!!!

I swear the smile won't leave my face. I'm even more excited for this than the joint birthday party coming up this Saturday for my husband and I.

I have my directions all printed out already, I've got my list of stuff to bring started. I'm going to dust off the suitcase and drag it up from the basement and stare at it in my bedroom until I'm ready to pack.

Is it time to go yet?

Who is Queenie?

Hmmm, now there’s a question I ask myself quite frequently. Who am I? I am a mother, a wife, a friend, a partner and a whole host of other things, but the real me? I’m not even sure if I remember her.

I just turned 40, I’ve been married for 18 years, known my husband for 21 and been a mom for 12 years. That’s a whole lot of time to lose yourself to other things. The one thing I never lost was my love of the written word. I can read a book in about two days, give or take. I can read while I watch television which my husband just can’t understand. I can read two or three different books all at the same time and know what’s going on in each. That’s how much I love to read. That’s how I found these other women that I’m going to meet in just a few short weeks.

Yup, I was trolling the internet looking for something new, something different to read and wandered into the wonderful world of fan fiction. I was hooked right from the start! I stumbled into Tara’s Home and JillianK’s The Layover right around the same time. It was all over after that. I even dabble a bit myself now. I don’t claim to be anywhere near as good as some out there but I enjoy having this outlet. It’s something that I do for me and that I can share with the women I have met through this miracle called the internet.

Where would we be without the world wide web? I know where I wouldn’t be, I wouldn’t be driving for six hours to meet these women whom I’ve only chatted on line and a few times on the phone with. I've collaborated with Hath a couple of times, but I have never spent any real life time with any of these women.

Am I nervous? Uh, duh, hell yes! Have you ever walked into a room full of people you don’t know and they all turn to stare at you and you wonder just what the hell you're doing there? Well, that’s kind of the feeling I have going on right now. Are they going to like me? I’ve been wondering that since I accepted Willow’s invitation.

Did I make the right decision in agreeing to travel to the Jersey Shore to spend 5 days with 4 women I’ve never met? I think so (even tho’ my hub thinks I’m slightly out of my mind). It’s an adventure and if I don't take the opportunity now, who know when I might get another chance. I’m sure we will all get along fabulously and it will be like a big sorority party and we won’t want to leave when it’s over.

At least that’s what I’m hoping.
