Dinner - Night Two
It is Friday night on Long Beach Island and that meant that Sam & I were gonna take the girls to the most awesome restaurant... The Dark Star Cafe , where we ate a few nights ago. The owner's name is Tony and he's a great guy who makes great food, all from scratch and all with heart.
We started the evening with fresh fried buffalo mozzarella, which Tony serves with homemade pesto, a balsamic vinaigrette drizzle and homemade tomato salsa. It's truly to die for and didn't last long with 5 hungry fictionistas.
Hath and Tara decided to try the Baked Ziti Pizza - Tony hand-tossed the dough and even started showing off once he realized that we were taking his picture. What a ham! The pizza was completely amazing - Hath said it was the best pizza she had ever had (better than Boston??? How is that possible). Even with all that said, they brought some home.
Sam finally got her cheesesteak... full of onions, peppers and mushrooms and a side of extra crispy fries. She also brought some home.
Queenie went for the calzone, which was the size of a small farm, or so it seemed. It was full of roasted veggies and ooey gooey cheeses. And... you guessed it.... she brought some home.
And me? Well, I went for the BBQ Brisket Sammich... which was incredible for the second time this week. It's so dense that it has to be eaten with a fork... For the reason (and others) I finished the whole thing and therefore I brought home nothing. It's ok, though, because I'm not sure I'll ever eat again after this week. Wow, is getting back on my diet and exercise plan gonna suck next week!!
Tony, we think you are awesome. Thanks for stopping to take a picture with us too. If any of you are ever on LBI, please make sure to patronize The Dark Star Cafe... you won't be sorry.
